Tea Party for the Soul

Melanie

I didn’t come from a family who “takes tea.” Nor did I host pretend tea parties as a child. The closest I ever came to one was through Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. The magical whimsy and masterful wit of the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party – to me – represented a light-hearted and imaginative view of life. Chaotic charm.

John Tenniel's illustration of Alice at the chaotic Mad Tea-Party, sitting with the March Hare, Dormouse, and Mad Hatter. Used as a humorous contrast to a horse's invitation to a peaceful, sane tea party.

So when my filly Star set up an Alice in Wonderland themed tea party for us during a recent metaphysical visit, she had my full attention.

“It’s time we sat down for tea,” she said, munching on a stack of tea leaves piled high on an ornate platter. Star was dressed in her best halter: one with a headband that looked like a royal tiara. It had emerald sapphires encased in silver. She said she chose that one because it complimented her eyes. “They match,” she said, sputtering tea leaves and lavender twigs out of her mouth as she spoke.

I sat down at the table she had set and picked up my cup. It had yellow and orange floral accents on it which reminded me of skipping through the horse pastures of the farm where I grew up. My heart frolicked in step with the memory and a warm midsummer sunlight settled upon my cold skin.

“When was the last time you ate?” Star asked, a concerned look… no, a knowing look… on her face. I admitted that I hadn’t really eaten much of anything that day, to which she replied: “Tut, tut, and all that jazz!” in a very Alice in Wonderland know-it-all voice. She slid a plate of petit-fours cakes across the table to me. They were lemon scented and coated in white frosting. The aroma lifted my spirits off the chair and a laugh began to grow in my belly.

My mouth watered; but instead of reaching for a little cake to satisfy my hunger, I hesitated. “Desert before lunch? Petit-fours are not a very healthy lunch choice.”

Star laughed, a big guffaw, and more tea leaves flew out of her mouth. “No, but they remind you of a happy day, right? The day you and your dear friend went to that special pastry shop and ate the most delicious mini cakes while you both laughed at her pregnancy brain and how she flitted around like a very big bee. Eat up the good memories! Any and all. This is the kind of sweetness which doesn’t go to your hips... though, this tea is flavored with rose-hips!”

The citrusy scent of rose hip brought me to another cherished memory in which I harvested rose hips for the first time at my house. I had learned how high in Vitamin C they were and wanted to make a tea. Even though I didn't harvest enough to make a large batch, I remembered feeling proud at the time, like a capable woman who could live off the land and support her family well.

“You have plenty of rose bushes now,” Star said to me from across the table. “What’s stopping you from harvesting more?”

Then Star showed me a vision of me making a journal from scratch, decorating a paper with pictures of flowers and rose hips and stems and greenery. I looked like I was enjoying the process of creation and expression. In my real life, Junk Journaling (as the hobby is sometimes called) is actually a pastime I took up earlier this year as a way to preserve special memories with my horse Chandler.

Star nodded her head exuberantly and said that was exactly what she meant for me to notice. “Gathering up beautiful papers instead of throwing them out, making a scrapbook of uplifting memories can combat times when you feel the slowed, lowered vibrations of heaviness.” As I assembled the pages in my vision, I felt my energy change from heavy to light.

Star lifted her tea cup to her muzzle and smiled as she sipped.

I chose to make the tea party for our communication session look like the scene from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland for a reason. In the story, the Cheshire Cat proclaims that “we are all mad here”. In that context, mad meant insane or out of control.

My tea party is different. There, they are all mad. Here, no one is insane or feels out of control. This tea party, our tea party, is special. Its very purpose is to keep you sane.

When you are sane, you can be calm. And when you are calm, you can receive. When you receive, you can be prepared to give. And when you give, you share an energy which this world needs more of.

As we started this blog series, our concept was to first describe our understanding of our journey from the summer of 2025 to the present day in the late summer of 2026. Melanie and I have worked together this past year, trading sessions of readings for our animals, both those physically here with us and those in spirit. When we started looking at the recordings and pulling together all the information we saw patterns the animals were giving us. Threads from different animals came together. A series of paths that we took, some together, some individually. Our intent was to show our journey and growth so that you could take what called to you and use it yourself.  The first two blog entries begin this concept.

Somewhere between that second blog and this one, Melanie's horse Star gave us something different. I love it when we think we have a whole path set in place, and an animal we've been communicating/working with gives us a completely different perspective.  Blog 3 carries this change. It incorporates not only what we have been thinking but also the realisation that we were still asking, "What do we do with all this?"  The "we" includes Naren, Melanie, Star, and you. Each of us individually, including you, is part of this little group when reading it.  How can you, the reader, apply this for your growth and the lifting up of your soul's vibration.   That's where we are now.    This pivot moves us from sharing the journey to continuing this journey together.  All of us working with each other for our individual spiritual growth in this lifetime.

Star's contribution to this blog provides a foundation for this new direction.  She takes Melanie through 'tea time'.  She brings out a memory and uses it to shift something within Melanie.  Taking those memories and playing with them, using them to share their energy, lifting up her soul's vibration.  Receiving, giving, and sharing that energy creates a full circle, allowing us to help ourselves and those around us.  Our animals are a key part of this circle.  That's something that Star has made very clear to us.

Tea Party for the Soul — Guided Meditation

Sometimes we starve for good energy to consume (like those petit fours).  Your animal(s), both those here with you physically and those in spirit, can give you a little nugget of something good. We are going to play with this concept and let your animal help you. Let them bring that nugget of energy to you.

Go to a quiet place where you can relax your body and mind. Close your eyes and think of one of your animals.  Let them sit with you in your mind.  Be with them and feel their love for you and your love for them.  Open your mind and ask your animal to show you something.  This can be something you hear in your mind, a snippet of something you see, or even just an idea that comes to you.  Don't force anything.  See what comes.   If you are struggling, think about a moment where you just loved your animal so dearly, or your animal loved you so dearly?

Once you have this, sit with it in your mind for a bit, feel its presence.  What is it doing to your feelings, your thoughts, and your body?   Do you feel lighter, have more energy flowing, or feel more tired, as if you want to fall asleep?    Just take note of this. Thank your animal for helping and being with you in this way.  And bid them goodbye in this mind-to-mind presence.

When you are ready, open your eyes.  Consider writing down your experience as Star mentioned.  You can use these snippets of information as you walk this path.

Thank you for starting this journey with us. Try it yourself, and listen to the guided meditation.
